What is Home Point?

Home Point is a collaboration between Herefordshire Council and our partner Housing Associations in the county to let homes.

How do I apply for a new home, if I am not on the housing register?

If you are not on the housing register you must first complete a housing options assessment. The housing options wizard is on the homepage. If you qualify for social housing you will be able to complete an on-line application form after you have read your action plan.

If you have applied for accommodation in the past there is no need to complete the housing options assessment. You can login using your existing home point reference number and PIN (usually your date of birth). To login click here

How will properties be let?

You will be assessed on your housing need and be given a band: either green, amber or red. For more information on how properties are prioritised click here.

Where will properties be advertised?

All available properties will be advertised on this website, click Property Search/Bid to view the current advertised homes. The properties will also be advertised at Home Point.

What do I do if I see a property I am interested in?

Using your pin number that you have been given you can bid for a property. Follow the instructions in the Property Search. You can also express an interest by sending a text to 0778 148 2312 or by telephoning the automated bidding line on 0845 270 2550.

You will need to complete a rehousing application form if you want to see what properties you are eligible for.

How many properties can I bid for at any one time?

You can bid for 1 property in each weekly advertising cycle. Properties will be advertised from Wednesday until the end of the day on the following Tuesday. Once the deadline is over you can no longer bid in that advertising cycle. So make sure you do not miss the deadline.

Will my queue position change once I have made a bid?

More than likely; it depends on a number of reasons including, for example, the number of applicants showing interest in a property or verification checks completed on applicants during and at the end of the advertising cycle.

How will I know if my bid has been successful?

When the advertising cycle ends, you will be contacted if you have been successful. If you have not heard anything with 2 weeks or so you will not have been successful. Feedback on the previous week's lettings will be published on this website (personal details of the successful applicants will not be included), view property results by clicking here.

Can I view a property before deciding to accept it?

Usually but speak with the housing provider to make sure.

What if I am having difficulty using the scheme?

Arrangements can be made for people who are unable to access the service for themselves, for example home visits or local surgeries. We have been working hard to make sure that the scheme is accessible to all. If you experience difficulties please contact us.
