how it works heading

How do I get Housing? There are generally over 5000 people on the waiting list in Herefordshire and on average only 17 properties available each week with many hundreds of people applying for a home.

To ensure that you stand the best chance of finding a property - please keep in mind that thousands of people want to live in Hereford City - could you consider another location or another town in the County, as you may get housed more quickly.

To ensure that you stand the best chance of being housed, it is important that you understand your options and how Home Point works, for more detailed information, we recommend that you:-

• download our brochure

• download our FAQ's

• watch the Video guides

• look at the section Homelessness and Housing advice

If you need further help, please ask the Home Point team for further information

Below is a short version of How it works?

  1. Fill in a Home Point application form

  2. Then await your Home Point registration letter that will be posted to you.  This will give you your own personal Home Point registration number and let you know of your banding

  3. Now you can look for a suitable property every week from Wednesday to Tuesday.  You can look for properties in the Home Point and Partner offices, look in the Admag newspaper or on the Home Point web site.  *You have 7 days to apply so there is no rush.

  4. Bid for one propery every week.

  5. If you are eligible and at the top of the property shortlist, the Housing Association will invite you to come and view the property

  6. If you like the property and pass the reference checks of the Housing Association, they may offer you the property.

  7. The Housing Association will ask you to move in on a certain agreed date and you will need to sign a tenancy agreement

  8. Move into your new property.
